The Exhibition – August 29 – September 9th

Call for Artists:

In conjunctions with Savor New Hope, our well-established celebration of Restaurants & the Arts held this year on Sunday September 9th, New Hope Arts is hosting an exhibition and sale with the theme SAVOR.

Our curator for this exhibition is Susan Roseman, artist and gallerist whose Riverbank Arts in Stockton was a beacon in the community for over seventeen years.  Susan also was the curator of theme shows for the Café in Rosemont. Her expertise in organizing a well-crafted and sales-orient exhibition is a perfect counterpoint to our hosting over 250 attendees during the Savor event, as well as numerous viewers during the exhibition schedule set for this showing opportunity. The theme SAVOR provides broad interpretation. Our emphasis on the culinary arts is clear – but “Savor”, as enjoying an experience, activity or feeling is fair expression, too.

Eligibility: Savor – The Exhibition is open to all artists with art works in two-dimensional or three-dimensional media. Floor space will be limited so free standing work will be limited. All works must be for sale. New Hope Arts has a 35% commission of sale price, so all art works should be priced to include this fee. The price points under $1000 are suggested for this exhibition though more expensive works will be considered.

Submission: Each artist may submit 5 pieces for consideration. Send the application form. There is no entry fee for submission for evaluation.

You may email images along with application to (image size must be 640 x 480 62 KB – no larger) or send a CD by mail with the appropriate application form.

Submissions will be accepted beginning June 15th and continuing until August 1st.  Artists will be notified of acceptance for the exhibition within two to three weeks of receiving the entry form on an ongoing basis prior to the closing date. Admission will close on August 1st, so early submission is advised. Upon acceptance we request a current resume and artist statement

Delivery: Artists are responsible for delivering and picking up work. Shipping of art work to the Center is discouraged, unless pre-arrangements are made with New Hope Arts.

Works in Wood honors the rich cultural heritage of Bucks County woodworking while celebrating the new visions of the contemporary artists who reside in our region and beyond. As a national juried show, Works in Wood features artwork from the finest talent in the country today. Works are not limited by function but must be original in design and artists must incorporate at least 50% of wood in each piece. The annual exhibition features functional and non-functional works, studio furniture, turnings, constructions, sculpture and vessels in which artists use wood as their primary media.

New Hope, New Media is the first exhibition of juried works at New Hope Arts presenting the current generation of forms used by many contemporary artists. Openin  g Januray 10th and running through February 12th, 2013. New Media is wide ranging in format from time-based projection to conceptual as well as interactive capability. The notion of media as a creative tool for participation of the artist and the viewer evolves from later 20th century performance art, installation and post-modern aesthetics.

Our homage to New Media brings a wider community of artists to our members and viewers. An opportunity to explore the “medium is the message” * is thought provoking, entertaining and engaging.  This exhibition also commemorates the centennial anniversary year of Marshall McLuhan*, the conceptual father of understanding media. We plan a series of lectures to accompany the exhibition addressing the issues of the post-modern art world. This is a departure from our pervious shows and an exciting opportunity for New Hope Arts.

Entry requirements will be posted beginning July 1, 2012. Please contact us at if you have questions regarding this show.
